Simple Adventures
I'm currently eyeballs deep in planning for a family adventure
We are going to Flordia and we are SO excited. It's been a while since we have had a proper family vacation (like even getting an hour away) and I'm gonna tell you something - we. need. it!!
Now I know what you are thinking; Bhreagh, you have two small kids. You are not really going on vacation you are going on a relocation. To that I say "yup" but I have learned over the years that simply breaking out of the daily routines and responsibilities is still a break from life (even though we still have an early morning wake up calls and hourly meltdowns)

Just a year or so ago I would never ever do this. I had (still have) daily and weekly routines that if I do not stick to the world will end. I am not being dramatic, my world little ends and I become Ursula from the Little Mermaid. They work for us. They keep us grounded and centered and happy and healthy but breaking those rhythms for a little adventure is just as important as said rhythms
So we are going. The whole kit and kaboodle. The sound machines and the diapers and the clothes and iPads and suitcases and the pacificer and the whole bag of just in case junk cause traveling with kids is HARD. But is there really anything about having kids that isn't hard?
Now, I could be one of those people who gives you a whole list of things or must-haves or how-tos when traveling with kids but I am not going to pretend that I know what I am doing and/or I even know what to bring (just ask the overweight suitcases I always bring). What I am going to give you is a little encouragement and here it is;
You don't have to know what you're doing, you don't have to have it all figured out, you don't have to feel like you made the right decision but you do have to go on an adventure!
Why?
Because we are gospel people and the call of the gospel is a call to adventure.

Jesus was the coolest guy I know. I'm not just saying that because I follow His teachings or because I feel like I have to say that. I say that because it's true. He was such a Maverick. He went against the norm, He pushed back against cultural standards, He was confident in Himself, His beliefs and purpose. He had a different way of looking at things. He challenged people all the time. He was born in a barn (shout out to Mary for that killer birth). He was slow, intentional and a no-nonsense kid of guy.
He knew adventure - not necessarily because He was an adrenaline junkie but because He knew the call of the gospel was a call to exciting, different and life-changing adventure.
Adventure doesn't mean you have to perform miracles or walk on water or drastically change someone's life every single time you leave your home (although totally possible). Adventure doesn't mean you have to be crazy and go to Flordia in the middle of August or plan some elaborate vacation every 6 months.
Adventure means you take the whole "life to the fullest" thing seriously.
Jesus came to give us life to the fullest but that doesn't mean He is going to automatically give us wonderful and elaborate adventures. His part was dying on the cross so that we have the ability to be adventurers. Our part is to say yes to the adventure and then make it happen.
So choose joy. Choose simple daily practices that keep you connected to the Father. But don't stop there
Choose Adventure
Choose to see every single day as an adventure. Choose to look at every moment like an adventure.
Choose to do something crazy. Choose to do something scary
Choose to live the life Jesus died for the way He wants you to live
Choose adventures.
